Seam and Chip Repair in Asheville

A chipped edge or a seam that has opened up does not usually mean a new countertop. Loveisnotabuse repairs existing stone across Asheville, including stone we did not install, and we will tell you honestly when a repair is the right call and when it is throwing money at something past saving.

Chips and Edge Damage

The most common damage is a chip along the front edge or at the sink cutout, usually from something heavy landing wrong. We fill these with a color matched resin, cure it, and polish it back flush. On granite and quartzite the repair is typically invisible from standing height. On a solid dark quartz it can be near perfect. On a heavily patterned stone we can usually match the background but not always the veining, and we will show you a test spot before committing.

Failing Seams

A seam that has opened, discolored, or started to lift is often a support problem underneath rather than a bonding problem at the joint. If a cabinet run has settled or a dishwasher cutout was left unsupported, the stone flexes and the seam is where it shows. Fixing the seam without fixing the support just buys you a year. We look underneath first.

Cracks

Cracks are the honest conversation. A hairline crack running from a corner of a sink or cooktop cutout is a stress crack, and it can often be stabilized and filled. A crack that runs across a full width, or one that has already separated, generally means that piece needs replacing. We will not pretend otherwise to sell you a repair that fails in six months.

When Replacement Is Right

If the surface is delaminating, water damaged through the substrate, or cracked through, replace it. Anything short of that is worth a look first.
